This is what I see here the first thing when I wake up in the morning! Amazing view from the villa bedroom! Thanks to Villa Kuningan @ privateubudvillas.com
Where to stay in Bali:
- Private Ubud Villas for an unforgettable villa-stay. We stayed in Villa Palm Kuning and spent the most memorable days in a private tropical heaven. The roomboy Wayan is just amazing help!
- Ritz-Carlton Mandapa (amaaaaazing views)
- Ubud Hanging Gardens (the worlds no 1 pool)
Things to do in Bali:
- Hike up and down in Tegalalang rice terraces (unbelievable that something like this actually exists!!!)
- Bali Zoo (great for kids, they get to pet the crocodile and a tiger-boy!)
- Holy Water Temple ceremony (unforgettable out-of-this-world experience, best if you have a local friend like our Agung to go with!)
- Spend a lazy and chill day in a famous beach club (our favourites are Potato Head, Woobar and Junglefish)
- Surf in Canggu (if you want to learn how to surf then Kuta beach is a better choice as Canggu waves are huuuuge!)
- Stay a few days in Ubud (it is the capital of spirituality, culture, art and traditions!)
- Feel like a queen/king in Seminyak
- Enjoy a local traditional event (like Galungan or Nyepi, it is a cultural shock in the best possible meaning)
- Take a ridge walk between the rice fields (like Campuhan in Ubud)
- Visit a spice farm (Bali Pulina next to Tegalalang terraces is a great one) and get to know the civet cats who “make” the famous kopi luwak coffee
- Bike down the Mt Batur volcano (it is a 30km ride of unbelievable landscapes and amazing views). PS! your bottom will hurt afterwards 🙂
- Drool in Jimbaran fishmarket
- Visit a seaweed farm and a traditional salt farm
- Snorkel in the Blue Lagoon
- Buy loads of beautiful arts and crafts to take the Bali vibe home with you
- Visit the monkeys in the tranquil Holy Monkey Forest in Ubud
- And of course – visit a temple, even better when the traditional dance is on
What to eat in Bali:
- Drink all the healthy drinks – turmeric lemonade, kombucha, raw smoothies, fresh coconut water, etc!
- Ayam betutu – the roasted chicken
- Babi Guling – the roasted suckling pig (the most famous one comes from Ibu Oka)
- Pisang Goreng – the fried bananas with ice cream
- Enjoy a fresh fruit salad for breakfast (don´t forget to add the purple dragon fruit, it´ll make your mood for the whole day!)
- Cap cai – the vegetable stir fry
- Chicken sate skewers
- Enjoy numerous vegan options everywhere
- Be extra careful or avoid the local strong spirit Arak, the local moonshine (it can be of low quality and even include methanol and drinking of methanol can be fatal!)
Extra: Agung Wimba for cardriver and guide in Bali. I cannot recommend him enough! He is helpful, he knows a lot, he is friendly, he is intelligent etc. If you want to get to know the real Bali, contact Agung! You may write to his FB page: Bali Tours Agung Wimba or e-mail him: agungwimbawimba@yahoo.com or just give him a call: 081 337 002 535. Please send him greetings from Juta, Henri and the girls :).
